Week One Recap

-- Spotlight --
It was a high scoring opener for the Flood and Stompers. The four horseman of Gibbs, Taylor, Swift, and Montgomey combined for 123.5 points, enough to beat 4 teams on their own this week. It was ground and pound all day long but in the end it was the arial performance of Christian Watson that took the Stompers to the weeks highest scoring performance and their first win in a season opener in 4 years. Detroit had their highest scoring season opener since 2021 and the first time they have broken 140 in the opener in the same time frame, but it was not enough. Both teams will be looking for strong week 2 performances. Stonebrook tightens the all time record to 6-4 Detroit.
The Stompers look to extend their lead in the Detroit Kickoff group against Sand Point next week. They are 7-1 all time against the Sharks.
The Flood take on the Nightmare and will need a win to stay in contention for that extra FAAB.
-- Game of the Week --
The Coins extend their series lead to 9-5 after a whalloping of their rival Panthers. Grand Blanc doubles up on weekly awards with both Caleb Williams (42.26) and Jeremiyah Love (12.5) taking home POTW and ROTW honors. Chase Brown and Nico Collins added to the 150 point effort. It was a let down for the defending champs, with only Juwan Johnson (15.4) breaking 15 points. But it was only week one, and the Panthers will be ready to pounce in week 2.
The Coins take on Vehicle City in a pivotal Kickoff battle. Boths teams are 1-0 and looking to take control of the group.
The Panthers face the Kraken for the 8th time next week as they both look to stay alive in their group.
-- Round Up --
Elsewhere in the league, the Huskies beat the Gryphons, again. They move to 6-0 all time in the series behind a 48 point scoring 3 tight end lineup. The Huskies look formidable once again.
The Victinis take home the hotly contested Flint Mega Bowl for the second straight time. Josh Allen and Jadarian Price both were good enough for player of the week honors as the Victinis cruise to a 150 points performance.
The new Nightmare core of Derrick Henry and JSN was enough to dispatch the Sharks, nearly reaching 160 points to the Sharks 115. The Nightmare take the lead 4-3 in the series.
3 players scored over 28 points for the Pandas as they take their 7th win all time over the Grizzlies in 10 matchups. It seems like the Pandas and Huskies are on a collision course for week 3, but the Pandas can't overlook the Gryphons this week.
-- Stat and Records --
Farmington and Oakland both reached 100 games played.
Farmington reaches 70 wins all time.
The Coins, Pandas, Victinis, and Sharks will all be playing their 100th game this week.
